## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) DURING INITIAL CLIMBOUT AFTER TAKEOFF AT DODGE CENTER, MINNESOTA, THE PILOT EXPERIENCED A TOTAL ENGINE POWER LOSS. THE PILOT MADE AN EMERGENCY LANDING IN A NEARBY FIELD. THE PILOT, WHO WAS THE SOLE OCCUPANT IN THE AIRCRAFT, SUSTAINED SERIOUS INJURIES, MOSTLY DUE TO THE LACK OF AN INSTALLED SHOULDER HARNESS. INITIAL INVESTIGATION REVEALED THAT THE ENGINE HAD ADEQUATE FUEL, IGNITION AND AIR SUPPLY, SO THE CAUSE OF THE POWER LOSS IS STILL UNKNOWN. THIS RECORD SHALL BE UPDATED WHEN THE CAUSE OF THE POWER LOSS IS DISCOVERED. UNTIL THEN, THE CORRECTIVE ACTION ALSO REMAINS UNKNOWN.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI03LA021](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI03LA021), Nov 9, 2002: Beech D35 (N2935B), Dodge Center, MN, substantial damage. Probable cause: The loss of engine power due to a fractured engine driven pump shaft pin. The low altitude and unsuitable terrain encountered were contributing factors.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
