## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THIS WAS THE SECOND FLIGHT FOR THIS EXPERIMENTAL HOMEBUILT AIRCRAFT. IT WAS BEING FLOWN BY THE OWNER/BUILDER. THE PILOT STATED HE LANDED FASTER THAN ON THE PREVIOUS FLIGHT, BECAUSE HE HAD JUST PREVIOUSLY INTENTIONALLY STALLED THE PLANE, AND IT STALLED AT A HIGHER SPEED THAN HE WAS EXPECTING. BY ADDING SPEED TO THE LANDING HE FOUND THE RUDDER AND STEERABLE TAILWHEEL TO BE QUITE SENSITIVE. HE OVERCONTROLLED, INDUCING SIDE LOADING, WHICH CAUSED THE RIGHT SIDE SPOKED WHEEL TO FAIL. THE AIRCRAFT EXITED THE RUNWAY.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
