## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT STATED HE WAS ON APPROXIMATELY 1 MILE FINAL, #2 FOR LANDING AT ADDISON AIRPORT WHEN HE NOTICED A LOSS OF ENGINE POWER. DUE TO THE CONGESTED AREA AND LIMITED LANDING AREAS HE IMMEDIATELY ADJUSTED HIS GLIDE TO A GOLF DRIVING RANGE, ESTABLISHED A GLIDE AND QUICKLY PERFORMED SOME TROUBLE SHOOTING. WHEN THE ENGINE DID NOT RECOVER HE INITIATED AN EMERGENCY LANDING ON THE DRIVING RANGE. ON ROLLOUT ACFT ENCOUNTERED A DRAINAGE DITCH APPROX 2 FT DEEP. MAIN GEAR CONTACTED THE OPPOSITE EDGE OF THE DITCH APPROX 6 INCHES BELOW THE CREST. THIS SHEARED THE LANDING GEAR AND PROPELLER BLADES. NO OTHER DAMAGE WAS EVIDENT WITH THE AIRCRAFT. PILOT SUFFERED A SLIGHT CUT ON HIS HAND. FUEL TANKS AND FUEL BOWL WERE INSPECTED FOR FUEL. TWO OF THREE TANKS HAD FUEL AS DID THE FUEL BOWL LOCATED AT THE LOWEST POINT ON THE FIREWALL. PILOT STATED THE FUEL CONTROLLER HAD BEEN REMOVED AND RETURNED TO THE COMPANY FOR RECALIBRATION THE WEEK PRIOR. PILOT MADE A FORCED LANDING, INITIAL GROUND CONTACT WAS APPROX. 150 FEET FROM FINAL ACFT RESTING PLACE. PICTURES INDICATE RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR HAD SUBSTANTIAL SIDE LOADING AS PILOT STEERED ACFT CLEAR OF 60 POLE ON RIGHT SIDE OF ACFT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
