## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON 12/10/02, (RAIA) FLIGHT 5316, ENROUTE FROM PIT TO SBN, RETURNED TO PIT SHORTLY AFTER DEPARTURE AND MADE AN EMERGENCY LANDING ON RUNWAY 10C WITHOUT INCIDENT. FURTHER INVESTIGATION REVEALED THAT AN "O" RING ON THE #1 HYDRAULIC MANIFOLD PRESSURE SWITCH FAILED, CAUSING #1 HYDRAULIC ENGINE DRIVEN PUMP CAVITATION, DUE TO A LOSS OF HYDRAULIC FLUID ON THE #1 HYDRAULIC SYSTEM. THE PASSENGERS WERE DEPLANED ON RUNWAY 10C AND TAKEN TO THE TERMINAL BY BUS. THERE WERE NO REPORTS OF ANY INJURIES TO THE PASSENGERS OR CREW. THE AIRPLANE WAS TOWED TO THE RAMP. THE #1 HYDRAULIC PUMP WAS REMOVED AND REPLACED ALONG WITH THE #1 HYDRAULIC MANIFOLD PRESSURE SWITCH. AIRPLANE WAS RETURNED TO SERVICE WITHOUT FURTHER PROBLEMS. THIS INFORMATION WAS RECEIVED BY PAUL BERCHER, PITTSBURGH MAINTENANCE MANAGER. SUBMISSION OF THIS REPORT CLOSES THIS INCIDENT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
