## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT STATED THAT UPON DEPARTURE FROM FXE LANDING GEAR WOULD NOT FULLY RETRACT. PASSENGER INFORMED FLIGHT CREW HE HEARD A NOISE NOT NORMALLY ASSOCIATED WITH NORMAL FLIGHT, WHEN THE GEAR IS RETRACTING. PILOT STATED EMERGENCY PROCEDURES CHECKLIST WAS FOLLOWED TO PERFORM GEAR EXTENSION. MANUAL EXTENSION OF LANDING GEAR WAS UNSUCCESSFUL (PUMP HANDLE WOULD NOT MOVE). PILOT REQUESTED FLY-BY AT SANFORD TOWER TO CONFIRM GEAR POSITION. TOWER STATED GEAR LOOKED DOWN BUT COULD NOT CONFIRM LOCKED POSITION. EMERGENCY LANDING CHECKLIST WAS PERFORMED. AIRCRAFT TOUCHED DOWN ON RUNWAY 31 AT JAX. RIGHT MAIN GEAR COLLAPSED FOLLOWED BY LEFT MAIN GEAR. AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST SLIGHTLY RIGHT OF CENTERLINE. AIRCRAFT EVACUATED WITHOUT INJURY TO CREW OR PASSENGER. FAA INVESTIGATION OF AIRCRAFT REVEALED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO BOTH RIGHT AND LEFT MAIN LANDING GEAR. ADDITIONAL DAMAGE LOCATED ON THE BOTTOM PORTION OF THE TAIL STRUCTURE APPROXIMATELY 3 FEET PAST THE CABIN DOOR. FAA INVESTIGATORS WERE UNABLE TO CYCLE THE LANDING GEAR DUE TO DAMAGE. CAUSE OF THE GEAR MALFUNCTION WAS UNDETERMINED AT THIS TIME.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB MIA03LA033](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/MIA03LA033), Dec 14, 2002: Beech 200 (N623VP), Jacksonville, FL, substantial damage. Probable cause: Failure of the main landing gear locking mechanism for undetermined reasons, which resulted in the main landing gear collapsing, and damage to the airplane during landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
