## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON 12/31/02 SKYWEST FLIGHT # 6960 HAD A LEFT ENGINE FAILURE ON TAKEOFF DUE TO A BIRD STRIKE AT THE SACRAMENTO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT. THE AIRCRAFT RETURNED TO SACRAMENTO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT AND LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT. INSPECTORS FROM THE SACRAMENTO FLIGHT STANDARDS DISTRICT OFFICE INSPECTED THE AIRCRAFT ON THE RAMP AT THE SACRAMENTO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT. THE INSPECTION FOUND A TOTAL OF THREE BIRD STRIKES INCLUDING THE LEFT ENGINE WHICH CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE FAN BLADES. OTHER BIRD STRIKES WERE NOTED ON THE RADOME AND LEFT LOWER WING WHICH CAUSED MINOR DAMAGE TO THE RADOME.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
