As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON DECEMBER 31, 2002, ABOUT 1200 EST, A SOCATA TB-9, N136ER, WAS SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED DURING AN OVERRUN, FOLLOWING AN ABORTED TAKE-OFF AT HUNTINGDON COUNTY AIRPORT AIRPORT (MUU) MOUNT UNION, PENNSYLVANIA. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS PREVAILED FOR THE PLANNED FLIGHT TO THE YORK AIRPORT, YORK, PENNSYLVANIA. THE PILOT REPORTED THAT HE WAS DEPARTING RUNWAY 22 AT MUU. THE RUNWAY CONSISTED OF GRAVEL AND TURF. THE PILOT STATED THAT DURING TAKE-OFF, SOME AREAS OF THE RUNWAY WERE SOUPY AND SOFT. THE PILOT WAS ABLE TO GET TWO AIRCRAFT WHEELS AIRBORNE BEFORE IT SETTLED BACK TO THE RUNWAY. IN RESULT, THE AIRCRAFT COLLIDED WITH A MAN-MADE DITCH AT THE END OF RUNWAY 22. THE PILOT DID ADD THAT HE DID NOT EXPERIENCE ANY PRE-IMPACT MECHANICAL MALFUNCTIONS WITH THE AIRCRAFT. THIS ACCIDENT IS CONSIDERED CLOSED. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB NYC03LA034](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/NYC03LA034), Dec 31, 2002: Socata TB 9 (N136ER), Mount Union, PA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's delay in aborting the takeoff. A factor was the soft runway.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
