## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT TOOK-OFF FROM SHREVEPORT DTN AIRPORT, WAS IN STRAIGHT AND LEVEL FLIGHT WHEN THE AIRCRAFT CAUGHT FIRE, PILOT AND PASSENGER APPARENTLY PANICED, AIRCRAFT WENT INTO A STALL AND THEN A FLAT SPIN. AIRCRAFT HIT THE GROUND IN A FLAT SPIN, KILLING BOTH. AIRCRAFT WAS DESTROYED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB FTW03FA071](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/FTW03FA071), Jan 2, 2003: Grumman American AA-1A (N9226L), Shreveport, LA, destroyed, 2 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain adequate airspeed resulting in a stall.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
