## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON JANUARY 5, 2003 AT APPROXIMATELY 1530 LOCAL TIME, MR. GEORGE R. JONES, PILOT CERTIFICATE # 548351746, WAS ACTING AS PILOT IN COMMAND OF N8692Y OPERATING FROM JOHNSON COUNTY AIRPORT (JNX) INTO RALEIGH-DURHAM INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (RDU). THE WINDS WERE REPORTED AS 230 AT 8 KNOTS AND THE SKY WAS CLEAR. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO LAND ON RUNWAY 32 AT RALEIGH, THE AIRCRAFT TOUCHED DOWN APPROXIMATELY HALF WAY DOWN THE 3570' RUNWAY. ON ROLLOUT, THE PILOT NOTICED THE END OF THE RUNWAY APPROACHING AND ATTEMPTED TO STOP. MR. JONES THEN RAN OFF THE END OF RUNWAY 32, DESTROYING TWO RUNWAY LIGHTS WITH HIS LEFT PROP. MR. JONES THEN TAXIED THE AIRCRAFT BACK ONTO THE TAXIWAY AND PROCEEDED TO THE RAMP. MR. JONES STATED THAT THERE WERE NO MECHANICS AVAILABLE TO EVALUATE THE DAMAGE TO THE PROP AND HE ELECTED TO FLY N8692Y BACK TO JOHNSON COUNTY TO HAVE HIS LOCAL MECHANIC INSPECT THE DAMAGE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
