## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON JANUARY 20, 2002 AT 18:30 EST, N604VK, A CL-600-2B16, WAS APPROACHING RUNWAY 2 AT KBAF, WESTFIELD, MA. ON FINAL IT WAS NOTED THAT THERE WAS APPROXIMATELY A 50-DEGREE LEFT CROSSWIND AT 36 KNOTS AND DIMINISHED TO ABOUT 33 KNOTS AT 300FT AGL. AT ABOUT 50FT AGL A VERY STRONG DOWN DRAFT WAS FELT THAT THE PILOT STATED HE COULD NOT ARREST. THE AIRCRAFT CONTACTED THE RUNWAY IN A LEFTWING DOWN, NOSE DOWN CONFIGURATION. WITH BOTH HANDS ON THE YOKE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT, IT BOUNCED AND HIT THE RUNWAY ON THE RIGHT SIDE LANDING GEAR. THE FO WAS ALREADY ON THE POWER AND AFTER THE SECOND BOUNCE APPLIED POWER TO PULL OUT. THE AIRCRAFT WAS IN STICK SHAKER AT THIS TIME. ONCE OUT AND AIRCRAFT WAS CLEANED UP, THE CREW REQUESTED RUNWAY 33. ON APPROACH AT 500FT AGL, CREW GOT AN EGPWS WIND SHEAR WARNING. THEY EXECUTED A MISSED APPROACH AND CONTINUED TO KBDL, HARTFORD, CT. THEY HAD DECLARED WIND SHEAR ON BOTH APPROACHES TO THE KBAF TOWER. THEY LANDED AT KBDL WITHOUT INCIDENT. UPON INSPECTION OF THE AIRCRAFT, IT WAS FOUND THAT BOTH WINGS HAD STRUCK THE GROUND AND THAT THERE WAS NOSE GEAR DAMAGE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
