## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON JANUARY 23, 2003 AT 1030 EST, A BEECH KING AIR BE-F-90 ON LANDING RUNWAY 6 AT THE SUMMERVILLE AIRPORT, SUMMERVILLE, SC ENCOUNTERED A SUDDEN GUST OF WIND CAUSING THE RIGHT WING TIP TO STRIKE THE GROUND. THE BE-F-90 WAS ON AN IFR FLIGHT AND WAS EXECUTING AN NDB APPROACH TO THE SUMMERVILLE AIRPORT. THE AIRPORT DOES NOT HAVE WIND REPORTING EQUIPMENT. THE NEAREST WIND REPORTS WERE FROM THE ATIS AT THE CHARLESTON AIRPORT (CHS), 15 MILES EAST, REPORTING THE WINDING CONDITIONS AS 350 AT 17 KNOTS. THERE WERE 5 PASSENGERS ON BOARD WITH NO INJURIES.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
