## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) WHILE IN FLIGHT, AND PERFORMING A LAZY EIGHT MANEUVER, THE PILOT HEARD A LOUD BANG. WHEN THE LANDING GEAR WAS LATER EXTENDED TO LAND, THE NOSE GEAR DID NOT INDICATE DOWN AND LOCKED. UPON LANDING, THE NOSE GEAR RETRACTED, CAUSING MINOR DAMAGE TO THE NOSE GEAR DOORS, COWLING, AND PROPELLER. THERE WERE NO FIRE, INJURY, OR SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE. THE DOWNLOCK SPRING ATTACH LUG ON THE NOSE GEAR TRUNNION (P/N 67054##) WAS FOUND BROKEN AND APPEARS TO HAVE FAILED. THE BROKEN LUG ALLOWED THE DOWNLOCK SPRING TO DISCONNECT, THEREBY PREVENTING THE NOSE GEAR TO FULLY EXTEND AND LOCK.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
