## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE LANDING GEAR PARTIALLY DROPPED BUT DIDN'T COMPLETELY COME DOWN AND BACK. THE PILOT HAD TOTAL ELECTRICAL FAILURE AND WAS TRYING TO MANUALLY EXTEND GEAR. THE PILOT CONTACTED RIC FOR ASSISTANCE. UPON INSPECTION BY A LOCAL MECHANIC, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE STARTER HAD SHORTED TO GROUND, CAUSING AIRCRAFT TO LOSE ELECTRICAL POWER COMPLETELY. FURTHER INVESTIGATION OF THE LANDING GEAR SYSTEM REVEALED THAT THE LEFT MAIN GEAR ACTUATOR CYLINDER SEIZED ABOUT 2/3 WAY DOWN CAUSING LANDING GEAR NOT TO EXTEND FULLY. AFTER FINAL EXAMINATION OF THE AIRCRAFT, MALFUNCTION DEFECT REPORTS WILL BE SUBMITTED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
