THE PILOT HAD PERFORMED CHANDELLES, LAZY EIGHTS, AND WAS PERFORMING STEEP TURNS WHEN THE RUDDER PEDALS BEGAN TO VIBRATE WHILE IN A LEFT TURN. HE LANDED AT C16 WITHOUT INCIDENT. GROUND INSPECTION REVEALED THAT THE LEFT RUDDERVATOR WAS LOOSE, THE LEFT STABILATOR SPAR WAS CRACKED, AND THE FUSELAGE WAS WRINKLED AHEAD OF THE RUDDERVATORS. INSPECTION ALSO REVEALED THAT THE RUDDERVATOR TRIM TABS WERE INSTALLED IMPROPERLY. THE PILOT WAS NOT INJURED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI03LA067](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI03LA067), Feb 9, 2003: Beech BE-G35 (N4668D), Urbana, IL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The partial failure of the left stabilizer in overload.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
