(-23) THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTED FROM THE PILOT'S HOMEBASE AT LEEWARD AIR RANCH ON OR ABOUT 1315 HOURS. WITNESSES AT LAKE WEIR REPORTED SEEING THE AIRCRAFT APPROACH LAKE WEIR ON A SOUTHEASTERLY HEADING. ## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB MIA03FA065](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/MIA03FA065), Feb 20, 2003: Aerofab Lake 250 (N811JG), Weirsdale, FL, destroyed, 1 fatal. Probable cause: The inadequate flare by the pilot-in-command on the calm water resulting in the in-flight collision with the water and subsequent nose over.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
