## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) INSTRUCTOR STATED THAT WHILE DOING SLOW FLIGHT, UNABLE TO MAKE FULL POWER, ENGINE ONLY MADE 1900 RPM WITH THROTTLE FULL FORWARD. ADDED CARB HEAT, PROBLEM WORSENED (POWER LESSENED). REMOVED CARB HEAT AND EXERCISED THE THROTTLE AND POWER DROPPED LOWER TO 1000RPM WITH THROTTLE BECOMING UNRESPONSIVE. ATTEMPTED FORCED LANDING IN GOLF COURSE BUT LANDED IN A CLUMP OF TREES JUST OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE FAIRWAY AFTER CONTACTING A LIGHT POLE APPROXIMATELY 100-150 YARDS UPWIND OF THE LANDING AREA. VISUAL INSPECTION OF THE CARBURETOR REVEALED THAT THE THROTTLE CABLE WAS COMPLETELY DISCONNECTED FROM THE CARBURETOR THROTTLE ARM. THE THROTTLE ARM WAS IN THE IDLE POSITION. NO CONNECTING HARDWARE WAS FOUND AT THE SCENE. INSTRUCTOR STATED THAT THIS FLIGHT WAS AN INTRODUCTORY FLIGHT FOR THE STUDENT PILOT ONBOARD THE AIRCRAFT. THERE WERE NO INJURIES.

## NTSB investigation

None matched to this report by aircraft and date. Search the NTSB's own records: https://data.ntsb.gov/carol-main-public/basic-search

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
