## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT FERRIED THE AIRCRAFT FROM ISRAEL TO THE UNITED STATES WITH AN EXPIRED SPECIAL FERRY PERMIT (EXPIRED JULY 14, 2002) FOR LONG RANGE FUEL TANKS. UPON LANDING AT DPA THE LONG RANGE TANKS WERE EMPTY AND THE MAINS LOW ON FUEL. WITH ONE PASSENGER IN THE FRONT SEAT IT CAUSED THE AIRCRAFT TO BECOME VERY NOSE HEAVY AND AT CG LIMITS. PILOT LANDED ON NOSE WHEEL CAUSING THE STRUT TO PUSH THROUGH THE AIRCRAFT AIRFRAME. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI03LA085](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI03LA085), Mar 19, 2003: Piper PA-34-200T (N930DE), West Chicago, IL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's improper flare resulting in a hard landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
