WHEN THE PILOT CAME TO THE END OF RUNWAY 11 (29 THRESHOLD) INSTEAD OF TURNING TO THE LEFT ONTO THE RAMP, HE KEPT GOING PAST THE END OF THE RUNWAY AND RUNWAY END IDENTIFIER LIGHTS AND INTO THE MUD AND GRASS. THE AIRPORT REMOVED THE ASPHALT AND PLANTED GRASS IN THIS AREA 6 MONTHS PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT. THE PILOT RELIED ON HIS OWN MEMORY OF THE AIRPORT LAYOUT INSTEAD OF WATCHING THE INDICATIONS ON THE AIRPORT FACILITY. From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
