## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON MARCH 22, 2003 14:31 CST, AIRCRAFT N195SF WAS PARTICIPATING IN A RACE DEMONSTRATION WITH A JET TRUCK AT THE TYNDALL AFB AIRSHOW. THE TIMING BETWEEN THE TRUCK AND AIRCRAFT WAS NOT SYNCHRONIZED AND THE AIRCRAFT TRAVERSED APPROX. 200' PAST THE JET TRUCK. THE AIRCRAFT ATTEMPTED AN UNPLANNED AND UNAPPROVED, LOW LEVEL OBLIQUE LOOP. THE MANEUVER WAS INITIATED AT APPROX. 50' AGL AND CONTINUED UP TO 200'-300' AGL. VIDEO IMAGES INDICATE A YAW AT THE TOP OF THE MANEUVER AND THE SMOKE OIL TRAIL DIVIDING INTO TWO DISTINCTIVE TRAILS. THE AIRCRAFT OBTAINED A LEVEL FLIGHT ATTITUDE BUT CONTINUED ON A NEAR VERTICAL PATH WITH NO APPRECIABLE FORWARD AIRSPEED. THE AIRCRAFT IMPACTED THE GROUND AND CONTINUED FORWARD APPROX. 25' COMING TO REST IN CLOSE PROXIMITY TO THE 1500' SHOWLINE AND PARALLEL TO THE RUNWAY. THE WIND AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT WAS REPORTED FROM 270 DEGREES AT 14 KTS. THE PILOT SUSTAINED FATAL INJURIES. DUE TO IMPACT DAMAGE, FLIGHT CONTROL CONTINUITY COULD NOT BE SUBSTANTIATED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB MIA03LA079](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/MIA03LA079), Mar 22, 2003: Techno Avia SP-95 (N195SF), Panama City, FL, substantial damage, 1 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot's attempted abrupt maneuver at a low altitude resulting in loss of control and collision with terrain before control could be regained.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
