THE AIRCRAFT WAS BEING OPERATED UNDER DAY VFR CONDITIONS IN THE LOCAL AREA FROM A PRIVATE HELIPAD BY AN APPROPRIATELY RATED COMMERCIAL PILOT. THERE WAS NO POST CRASH FIRE. THE PILOT WAS NOT INJURED. WEATHER CONDITIONS AT THE LEXINGTON AIRPORT (LEX), WHICH WAS 8 MILES WEST OF ACCIDENT SITE, NEAR THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT WERE AS FOLLOWS: WINDS 210 DEGREES AT 6 KNOTS, VISIBILITY 10, SKY CLEAR, TEMPERATURE 21C, DEWPOINT 10C, AND ALTIMETER 2984. NOTHING FOLLOWS.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB IAD03LA042](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/IAD03LA042), Mar 27, 2003: Bell BHT-47-G3B2A (N47SN), Lexington, KY, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain directional control while maneuvering to land after a loss of engine power. A factor was the loss of engine power.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
