## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) UAL FLT#1197 WAS ENROUTE FROM PHL TO ORD AND DECLARED AN EMERGENCY BECAUSE OF FUMES IN AIRCRAFT CABIN. A/C LANDED AT FWA WITHOUT INCIDENT. INVESTIGATION REVEALED THAT SOME OVERHEAD COMPARTMENTS HAD BUBBLES ON THE DOORS AND TWO HAD POPPED OPEN. I CONTACTED Q/A MANAGER, TERRY STROBACH OF UA AND STATED "A/C WAS IN MAINTENANCE TO DETERMINE WHAT CAUSED THE PROBLEM WITH THE O/H COMPARTMENTS. I ASKED HIM TO CONTACT OUR OFFICE WHEN HE FOUND THE PROBLEM.

## Other reports on N348UA (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19990906027589I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19990906027589I), Sep 6, 1999: Boeing 737300 (N348UA), Denver, CO, Minor damage. (-23) Number 1 main landing gear inner failed causing maintenance to replace inner cylinder, tire and wheel assembly. Cause of bearing failure unknown.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
