## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AS THE LEFT ENGINE ROTATED DURING THE START CYCLE, AND BEFORE IT HAD FIRED, WITH HYDRAULIC PRESSURE RISING, THE NOSE GEAR COLLAPSED WHILE THE AIRCRAFT WAS WAITING ON THE APRON TO TAXI OUT. THE AIRCRAFT WAS ON THE CHALKS WITH ELECTRICAL POWER PROVIDED BY THE AUXILIARY POWER UNIT. WHEN THE ENGINE DRIVEN HYDRAULIC PUMP BEGUN TO CAUSE HYDRAULIC PRESSURE TO RISE, THE MAIN LANDING GEAR DOORS CLOSED. THEREAFTER HYDRAULIC PRESSURE INCREASED SUFFICIENT TO ACTUATE THE NOSE GEAR OVER CENTER AND CAUSE THE AIRCRAFT TO SETTLE ONTO THE NOSE GEAR DOORS AS THE NOSE GEAR ITSELF SLOWLY RETRACTED. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED DAMAGE CENTRAL TO THE NOSE GEAR DOOR ATTACHES POINTS, WHICH WAS DETERMINED BY THE NTSB TO NOT BE SUBSTANTIAL. INVESTIGATION INDICATES NO MECHANICAL MALFUNCTION AND PILOT STATEMENTS SUGGEST NO PILOT ERROR.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
