## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) DURING A FLIGHT FROM LAKELAND, FL TO LEXINGTON, SC THE PILOT EXPERIENCED A DROP IN RPM TO AROUND 1000, THIS WAS DUE TO THE MAGNETO GOING BAD INFLIGHT AND THE ENGINE BEING OUT OF TIMING. THE PILOT WAS FORCED TO LAND OFF AIRPORT AT A HORSE RACETRACK IN DELEON SPRINGS. DURING THE LANDING THE PILOT CAME IN SLIGHTLY FAST AND TOUCHED DOWN MIDWAY DOWN THE TRACK, WHICH CAUSED HIM TO RUN OFF THE END OF THE TRACK. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST IN A CHAIN LINK FENCE AROUND A POOL. THE ONLY DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT WAS SOME SCRATCHES IN THE PROPELLER. THE AIRCRAFT HAD PLENTY OF FUEL AND OIL AND WOULD NOT START ON THE GROUND.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
