## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB NYC03LA083](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/NYC03LA083), Apr 11, 2003: Mooney M20K (N231LS), West Milford, NJ, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's inadequate compensation for the crosswind and his failure to maintain directional control. Factors in the accident were the crosswind and landing at night.

## Other reports on N231LS (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19880408017499I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19880408017499I), Apr 8, 1988: Mooney M20K (N231LS), Doylestown, PA, Minor damage. Executed a missed approach on first try due to gusty winds. Made a go around and landed gear up on second attempt.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
