## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON APRIL 11, 2003, AT APPROXIMATELY 1500 LOCAL TIME, N6317D, A CE-172, OPERATED BY A PRIVATE PILOT, AND SOLE OCCUPANT, WAS RETURNING FROM A CROSS COUNTRY FLIGHT INTO CARBONDALE, ILLINOIS. THE PILOT IN COMMAND MADE TWO ABORTED APPROACHES TO THE RUNWAY FOLLOWED BY A HARD LANDING WHICH RESULTED IN DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT'S NOSE WHEEL, PROPELLER, AND ENGINE FIREWALL. THE PILOT THEREAFTER TAXIED THE AIRCRAFT TO THE RAMP. NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED BY THE PILOT DURING THIS EVENT AND THIS CASE IS CLOSED WITH THIS REPORT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
