(-23) WHILE EN ROUTE FROM RENO, NV TO PORTLAND, OR THE AIRCRAFT EXPERIENCED AN ENGINE FAILURE. THE PILOT ATTEMPTED AN EMERGENCY LANDING AND WHILE ON ROLL OUT STRUCK A TELEPHONE POLE. THE AIRCRAFT FLIPPED OVER AND THE NOSE GEAR WAS PULLED OFF OF THE AIRCRAFT. THE PILOT DID NOT REPORT THE ACCIDENT AND LEFT THE AIRCRAFT ABANDONED ALONG THE ROAD.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB SEA03LA069](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/SEA03LA069), Apr 23, 2003: Cessna 175B (N8159T), Bonanza, OR, substantial damage. Probable cause: Separation of the connecting rod cap. Annual maintenance inspections which were disregarded by the owner/pilot was a factor.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System.
