(-23) THE PILOT STATED THAT WHILE ON A VISUAL APPROACH TO RUNWAY 7 AT KBQK, GLYNCO JETPORT, BRUNSWICK, GEORGIA, N1483L BEGAN TO SMOOTHLY LOSE ENGINE RPM. THE AIRCRAFT WAS ON AN APPROXIMATELY 3 MILE FINAL AT 1300 FEET OF ALTITUDE. THE PILOT STATED HE SWITCHED FUEL TANKS AND TURNED ON THE FUEL BOOST PUMP BUT THE ENGINE RPM STAYED AT IDLE. THE PILOT DID NOT BELIEVE HE COULD MAKE IT TO THE AIRPORT. HE DECIDED TO MAKE AN EMERGENCY LANDING. THE PILOT MADE AN OFF FIELD LANDING IN A HEAVILY FORESTED AREA ON THE EDGE OF A SALT MARSH. THE AIRCRAFT HIT SEVERAL TREES COMING TO REST APPROXIMATELY 20 FEET FROM THE SALT MARSH. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED HEAVY DAMAGE. THE PILOT AND PASSENGER RECEIVED MINOR INJURIES IN THE FORM OF LACERATIONS AND ABRASIONS. POST CRASH INSPECTION SHOWED ABSENCE OF FUEL IN THE RIGHT FUEL TANK. THE FUEL FEED LINE TO THE FUEL MANIFOLD WAS NOT FULLY TIGHTENED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ATL03LA084](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ATL03LA084), Apr 27, 2003: Beech A23 (N1483L), Brunswick, GA, substantial damage. Probable cause: Maintenance personnel's failure to secure the fitting on a fuel line, which resulted in a loss of engine power.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
