## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON APRIL 29, 2003, APPROXIMATELY 0915 PDT A HOMEBUILT DEJAGER RV-6, N239D, REGISTERED TO AND BEING FLOWN BY ABRAHAM R. DEJAGER A CANADIAN COMMERCIAL PILOT, SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE WHEN THE AIRCRAFT FLIPPED OVER ON LANDING ROLL FOLLOWING A LOSS OF POWER AND FORCED LANDING APPROXIMATELY TWO NAUTICAL MILES NORTHEAST OF BELLINGHAM AIRPORT. VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS EXISTED AND NO FLIGHT PLAN HAD BEEN FILED. MR. DEJAGER STATED THAT HE REMEMBERS TRYING TO SWITCH TO THE LEFT TANK FOR FUEL WHILE IN A LEFT TURN IN PREPARATION FOR THE FORCED LANDING. MR. DEJAGER LATER STATED THAT INVESTIGATORS WOULD PROBABLY FIND THAT HE HAD RUN OUT OF FUEL.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB SEA03LA075](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/SEA03LA075), Apr 29, 2003: DeJager RV-6 (N239D), Bellingham, WA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's inadequate in flight decision by failing to refuel while en route, resulting in fuel exhaustion and the loss of power.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
