## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON 05-01-2003, AT APPROXIMATELY 0606 LOCAL TIME, ATLANTIC SOUTHEAST FLIGHT 4431 (ASA 4431) DEPARTED THE AUGUSTA BUSH REGIONAL AIRPORT (AGS), AUGUSTA, GEORGIA, USING RUNWAY 17, A RUNWAY THAT HAD BEEN NOTIFIED (ATIS/NOTAMS) AS CLOSED. ALTHOUGH THE AGS CONTROL TOWER WAS CLOSED AT THE TIME THAT ASA 4431 USED RUNWAY 17 FOR TAKEOFF, THE TOWER HAD ISSUED A NOTICE CONCERNING SCHEDULED RUNWAY CLOSURES ON THE AIRPORT ATIS FREQUENCY BEFORE ENDING OPERATIONS ON THE EVENING BEFORE THE DEPARTURE INCIDENT OCCURRED. FURTHERMORE, FLIGHT 4431'S DEPARTURE PAPERS INCLUDED NOTAMS REGARDING RUNWAY CLOSURES AT AGS AND A TELEPHONE NUMBER FOR OBTAINING PERMISSION FOR RUNWAY OPERATIONS.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
