## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PASSENGERS ON SOUTHWEST AIRLINES FLIGHT 584, ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WERE FIGHTING OVER DRUGS ONBOARD THE FLIGHT ENROUTE TO SALT LAKE CITY, UT. THEY WERE OBSERVED INJECTING THEMSELVES WITH NEEDLES. THE SALT LAKE AIRPORT POLICE FOUND HEROIN AND MARIJUANA IN THEIR POSSESSION. ONE OF THE PASSENGERS WENT TO THE LAVATORY FOR 15 OR 20 MINUTES AND RETURNED TO HIS SEAT WITH A "CUT UP COKE CAN" AND A LIGHTER. IT IS NOT KNOWN IF HE USED THE LIGHTER IN THE LAVATORY. THE PASSENGERS WERE TAKEN INTO CUSTODY BY THE POLICE ON ARRIVAL IN SALT LAKE CITY, UT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
