## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON MAY 7, 2003, MR. PETER FUSS, HOLDER OF PILOT CERTIFICATE NO. 1518474, WAS OPERATING HIS EXPERIMENTAL SEA RAY AMPHIBIAN N902SQ OVER LAKE JACKSON NEAR SEBRING, FLORIDA WHEN HE INITIATED AN APPROACH AND LANDING ON THE LAKE. THE PILOT EXECUTED A FAULTY LANDING WITH EXCESSIVE SPEED AND BEGAN TO "PORPOISE" ON THE LAKE ON MAKING CONTACT WITH THE WATER. ON THE THIRD OSCILLATION, THE AIRCRAFT NOSED INTO THE LAKE SUBMERGING THE AIRCRAFT. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED MINOR DAMAGE WITH NO INJURIES TO THE PILOT. VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS PREVAILED DURING THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
