## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT STATED DURING A TELEPHONE INTERVIEW THAT AFTER FLYING AROUND THE LOCAL AREA FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES, HE ATTEMPTED TO SWITCH FROM THE RIGHT FUEL TANK TO THE AUXILIARY FUEL TANKS, BUT RATHER INADVERTENTLY SELECTED THE OFF POSITION. AFTER THE ENGINE QUIT, THE PILOT ATTEMPTED A RESTART, BUT FORGOT TO USE THE WOBBLE PUMP FOR THE RESTART. THE PILOT, NOT ABLE TO RESTART THE AIRCRAFT'S ENGINE, WAS FORCED TO LAND ONTO THE WATER.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB SEA03LA078](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/SEA03LA078), May 8, 2003: Beech F-35 (N5030B), Anacortes, WA, destroyed. Probable cause: The pilot's inadvertent selection of the incorrect fuel tank selector position (OFF) while in cruise flight over open water, and his failure to activate the fuel wobble-pump. A contributing factor…

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
