## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

BATTERY WAS WEAK AND PILOT ELECTED TO "PROP" THE ENGINE TO START IT. PILOT EXITED THE AIRCRAFT AND ASKED WIFE TO SET THE BRAKES. THE PILOT THEN PULLED THE PARKING BRAKE HANDLE. THE PILOT PULLED THE PROP THROUGH AND THE ENGINE STARTED. THE AIRCRAFT BEGAN TO MOVE AND THE PILOT RAN AROUND THE AIRCRAFT IN AN ATTEMPT TO ENTER THE COCKPIT. GROUND PERSONNEL SECURED POWER TO THE AIRCRAFT AND ASSISTED THE PASSENGER IN EGRESS. THERE WERE NO INJURIES IN THIS ACCIDENT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ATL03LA087](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ATL03LA087), May 12, 2003: American General AG5B (N1193W), Beaufort, NC, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to follow the checklist and set the parking brake which resulted in the airplane colliding with a parked airplane.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
