## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON MAY 13, 2003, AT 2007 EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME WITH UNRESTRICTED VISIBILITY AND CALM WIND, A BE-23-A24R, REGISTERED TO AND OPERATED BY A PRIVATE PILOT MR. SAXTON R GASKIN JR TOOK OFF FROM CLARK COUNTY, BEN EPPS (ANH) AIRPORT USING RUNWAY 27. ON TAKEOFF ROLL AT APPROX. 300 TO 400 AGL, THE PILOT NOTICED THE ENGINE WAS LOSING POWER AND RPM. MR. GASKIN DECIDED TO MAKE SHALLOW RIGHT TURN IN AN EFFORT TO REACH THE END OF RUNWAY 20. MR. GASKIN CAME SHORT OF RUNWAY 20 AND LANDED IN A GRASSY FIELD. UPON LANDING, THE NOSE GEAR RT MAIN GEAR COLLAPSED. THE ENGINE RUN OF THE SUBJUCT AIRCRAFT CONFIRMS TO MR. GASKIN WITNESS STATEMENT OF ENGINE MALFUNCTION (LOSING POWER).

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
