## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) I DEPARTED RUNWAY 14 WITH A STUDENT PILOT FOR SOFTFIELD TAKEOFF PRACTICE. THE STUDENT PITCHED UP TOO HIGH AND DID NOT COMPENSATE FOR LEFT TURNING TENDENCIES WITH APPLICATION OF RIGHT RUDDER. THE PLANE LIFTED OFF THE RUNWAY TOO EARLY AND YAWED TO THE LEFT. I TOOK THE CONTROLS AS THE PLANE WENT OFF THE LEFT SIDE OFF THE RUNWAY WHILE STILL AIRBORNE. WITH FULL POWER THE AIRPLANE SHOWED VERY POOR CLIMB PERFORMANCE AND STRUCK A RUNWAY LIGHT ON THE LEFT SIDE OF RUNWAY 14 WITH ITS RIGHT MAIN GEAR. WE THEN CLIMBED OUT AND RETURNED FOR LANDING.
