## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) MR. BRYAN L. MILANI STATES THAT WHILE HE WAS TAXIING TO TAKE OFF ON RUNWAY 2 AT SMX, HE LOST ALL BRAKES AT A POINT ABOUT 100 YARDS BEFORE THE RUNUP AREA. IN AN EFFORT TO STOP THE TAXIING AIRCRAFT, HE PULLED THE MIXTURE TO IDLE CUT-OFF, KILLING THE ENGINE. HE THEN GAVE IT FULL LEFT RUDDER FOR AN INTENTIONAL GROUND LOOP. THIS CAUSED THE AIRCRAFT TO LEAVE THE TAXI WAY, HITTING A SMALL BERM. STRIKING THE BERM FOLDED THE MAIN LANDING GEAR BACK TO THE UNDERSIDE OF THE WINGS. THE WOODEN PROPELLER WAS DESTROYED WHEN ONE BLADE BROKE NEAR THE HUB. NEITHER THE PILOT NOR THE PASSENGER REPORTED ANY INJURIES. REVIEW OF PILOT'S CREDENTIALS REVEALED THAT HIS LAST MEDICAL FAA FORM 8500-9 WAS DATED 09/24/99.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
