## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT BEGAN FLIGHT FROM CIHAL AIRSTRIP AT APPROXIMATELY 12:25 CST. THE FLIGHT WAS CONDUCTED FOR THE PURPOSE OF AERIAL APPLICATION. AS THE PILOT WAS FINISHING THE JOB THE PILOT FLEW SOUTHBOUND ALONG THE EAST EDGE OF THE FIELD. HIGH TENSION POWERLINES RUN EAST TO WEST AND DIVIDE THE FIELD. AS THE AIRCRAFT APPROACHED THE POWERLINES THE PILOT INTENDED TO FLY UNDER THE LOWEST SET OF WIRES. THE PILOT STATES THAT HE DID NOT IN FACT SEE THE LOWEST SET. THE AIRCRAFT IMPACTED THESE WIRES. AFTER IMPACT THE AIRCRAFT ROLLED LEFT AND COLLIDED WITH THE GROUND IN A NOSE DOWN ATTITUDE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB FTW03LA158](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/FTW03LA158), May 19, 2003: Air Tractor AT-502B (N9086M), Edna, TX, destroyed. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain clearance with the transmission wires while maneuvering during an aerial application flight. A contributing factor was the haze restricting the visibility.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
