## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AMERICAN AIRLINES FLIGHT 250, A B-757, HAD PUSHED BACK FROM GATE 9 AT JOHN WAYNE AIRPORT (KSNA) WITH TAIL SOUTH. ENGINES HAD BEEN STARTED AND GROUND HANDLING CREW HAD DISCONNECTED AND DEPARTED THE SCENE. THE AIRCRAFT WAS PREPARING TO TAXI TO THE ACTIVE RUNWAY WHEN AN ORANGE COUNTY FIRE TRUCK ROLLED ACROSS THE RAMP FROM THE VICINITY OF GATE 10 AND COLLIDED WITH THE AIRCRAFT, STRIKING IT JUST INBOARD OF THE RIGHT ENGINE. THERE WAS DAMAGE TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE FUSELAGE, THE RIGHT LEADING EDGE DEVICE AND SOME FOREIGN OBJECT DAMAGE TO THE RIGHT ENGINE. THE FIRE TRUCK SUSTAINED DAMAGE TO THE WINDSHEILD, REAR VIEW MIRROR, FOAM DISPENSER AND CAB FAIRING.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX03LA167](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX03LA167), May 20, 2003: Boeing 757-223 (N692AA), Santa Ana, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: the vehicle driver's failure to deploy the parking brake or use wheel chocks to secure the vehicle prior to leaving it unattended.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
