## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AIRCRAFT ON IFR APPROACH TO DXR, THE PILOT DECLARED AN EMERGENCY WITH NY TRACON, THE NATURE OF THE EMERGENCY WAS UNKNOWN. THE AIRCRAFT CIRCLED TWICE OVER THE FIELD AND LANDED LONG ON RUNWAY 17 TRAVELLING OFF THE END OF THE RUNWAY DAMAGING THE LEFT WING TIP, PROPELLER STRIKE AND LEFT WHEEL FAIRING. PILOT STATED THAT HIS AIRCRAFT ENGINE SPUTTERED AND HE THOUGHT THAT HE WAS RUNNING OUT OF GAS, SO HE DECLARED AN EMERGENCY. INSPECTION REVEALED THAT THE RIGHT FUEL TANK INDICATED A LITTLE ABOVE 1/4 FULL AND THE LEFT TANK WAS EMPTY. THE FUEL SELECTOR WAS IN THE RIGHT HAND POSITION AND WITNESSES STATED THAT THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING FINE. PILOT STATED THAT HE SELECTED RIGHT TANK FROM BOTH TANKS AND ENGINE RAN FINE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
