## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT WAS OVERFLYING A SMALL, GRASS-FIELD RUNWAY TO OBSERVE ACTIVITY ASSOCIATED WITH EAA FLY-IN. ENGINE LOST POWER WHILE ON UPWIND OF RUNWAY 2 AND PILOT REPORTED A LOSS OF FUEL PRESSURE TO HUNTINGTON ATCT. PILOT ATTEMPTED AN EMERGENCY LANDING ON RUNWAY 2 AT 141, BUT TOUCHED DOWN APPROXIMATELY 150 FEET PRIOR TO END OF RUNWAY AND STRUCK A GRAVEL PILE AND SOME LARGE PIECES OF SCRAP STEEL, CAUSING SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB NYC03LA116](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/NYC03LA116), May 25, 2003: Piper PA32-260 (N820CA), Huntington, WV, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to position the fuel selector to a tank with adequate fuel for the flight, which resulted in a power loss due to fuel starvation and the subsequent forced landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
