## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) DURING A TOUCH AND GO ON RUNWAY 36, THE PILOT ROTATED AT A LOW AIR SPEED FOR THE WING CONDITIONS, WHICH WERE GUSTING UP TO 38 KTS AT 250 DEGREES TO AVOID A FLOCK OF BIRDS. THE PILOT ELECTED TO LAND AGAIN DUE TO THE FACT THE AIRCRAFT WASN'T CLIMBING AND DRIFTING TO THE RIGHT. ON TOUCH DOWN THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTED THE RUN TO THE RIGHT AND CAME INTO CONTACT WITH LARGE ROCKS ON THE SIDE OF THE TAXIWAY UNDER CONSTRUCTION. ALL THREE LANDING GEAR WERE SHEARED FROM THE AIRCRAFT AND CAME TO REST ON ITS BELLY. DENSITY ALTITUDE WAS CALCULATED TO BE 9,204 FEET AND RUNWAY 36 IS AN UP HILL DEPARTURE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB DEN03LA093](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/DEN03LA093), May 31, 2003: Piper PA-28-150 (N5886W), Price, UT, substantial damage. Probable cause: the pilot's failure to maintain directional control and his inadequate compensation for the wind condition. A related factor was the crosswind.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
