## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON MAY 31, 2003 AT 1530CDT, A CESSNA MODEL 310R, N1781E, MADE A NOSE GEAR UP LANDING ON RUNWAY 04 AT TEXARKANA REGIONAL AIRPORT (TXK), TEXARKANA, AR. THE MULTI-ENGINE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED MINOR DAMAGE TO THE UNDERCARRIAGE. THE PILOT REPORTED THAT HE HEARD A POPPING SOUND DURING RETRACTION OF THE GEAR AND DID NOT HAVE THREE GREEN LIGHTS. THE PILOT EXECUTED A GO AROUND AND FLEW BY THE TOWER AND CONFIRMED A PARTIALLY EXTENDED NOSE GEAR. THE PRIVATE PILOT LANDED THE AIRCRAFT WITHOUT INCIDENT. NO INJURIES TO THE PILOT AND THE SOLE PASSENGER. VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS PREVAILED. THE PILOT REPORTED THAT HE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE GEAR BACK IN JANUARY OF 2003. HE SAID A MECHANIC CHANGED A BROKEN NOSE GEAR BRACKET THE LAST TIME AND NOW THE SAME ONE AGAIN WAS BROKEN. INVESTIGATION IS UNDERWAY TO DETERMINE CAUSE OF MALFUNCTION. THERE IS INDICATION THAT THE GEAR IN QUESTION WAS NOT PROPERLY RIGGED I/C WITH MANUFACTURER. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
