## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON JUNE 2, 2003, AT 1645 CDT, BEECH 58P, N60BR, WAS MAKING AN APPROACH TO RUNWAY 28, AT GKT AIRPORT. WEATHER WAS VFR AND CLEAR. PILOT HAD NEVER LANDED AT GKT AIRPORT BEFORE AND WAS NOT AWARE OF THE APPROXIMATELY 60 FT. HIGH HILL DIRECTLY AT THE END OF THE RUNWAY. WHILE HE WAS FOCUSED DIRECTLY ON ALIGNMENT WITH THE RUNWAY AND MAKING A GRADUAL NORMAL DESCENT, THE AIRCRAFT TOUCHED DOWN APPROXIMATELY 1000 FEET FROM THE END OF THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT THEN PROCEEDED THRU A LEVEL HAY FIELD AND DOWN THE 60 FT. HILL TO THE END OF THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT GROUND LOOPED DOWN THE HILL AND FINALLY CAME TO REST ON ITS NOSE ON THE RUNWAY AND APPROXIMATELY 40 FT. FROM THE END OF THE RUNWAY. MAIN GEAR WAS NOT DAMAGED. NOSE GEAR, NOSE FORWARD OF FIREWALL, BOTH ENGINES, AND BOTH PROPS RECEIVED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE. RIGHT PROP WAS COMPLETELY SHEARED OFF. FOUR SOB, NO INJURIES. PILOT STATED THERE WAS NO MECHANICAL OR CONTROL PROBLEMS PRIOR TO MAKING THE APPROACH.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ATL03LA101](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ATL03LA101), Jun 2, 2003: Beech 58P (N60BR), Gatlinburg, TN, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's misjudgment of altitude and distance to the runway during final approach, and his failure to attain the proper touchdown point for landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
