## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) N6306T, A P-51 MUSTANG, LANDED AT THE DAVENPORT MUNICIPAL AIRPORT, DAVENPORT, IOWA ON JUNE 7, 2003 JUST PRIOR TO THE QUAD CITY AIRSHOW, WITH THE LANDING GEAR RETRACTED. THE AIRPORT WAS OPEN AND THE AIRSPACE WAS NOT UNDER THE WAIVER PROVISIONS AT THE TIME. TWO INSPECTORS WERE AT THE SITE, BUT DID NOT WITNESS THE ACTUAL INCIDENT. THE AIRCRAFT STOPPED AT THE EDGE OF RUNWAY 15, APPROXIMATELY 1300 TO 1500 FEET FROM THE RUNWAY END ON THE WEST SIDE. THE SPECTATORS WERE AT LEAST 500 FEET ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE RUNWAY. THE PILOT WAS IDENTIFIED AS MR. THOMAS WOOD THE SOLE OCCUPANT AND OWNER OF THE AIRCRAFT. WHEN THE AIRCRAFT WAS RAISED UP FROM THE GROUND WITH THE LANDING GEAR LEVER IN THE DOWN POSITION THE LANDING GEAR EXTENDED. AIRCRAFT DAMAGE WAS DETERMINED TO BE MINOR AND NO INJURIES REPORTED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
