## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT STATED THAT ON TAKEOFF, HE PREMATURELY RAISED THE TAILWHEEL. WITH AN APPROXIMATE 5 KNOT CROSSWIND, THE AIRCRAFT DRIFTED LEFT AND GOT OFF THE RUNWAY. RAIN-SOFTENED TURF AGGRAVATED THE LOSS OF DIRECTIONAL CONTROL AS THE AIRCRAFT TRIED TO GROUND LOOP. AIRCRAFT EVENTUALLY MADE GROUND CONTACT WITH ONE WING AND THEN THE OTHER. THE RIGHT LANDING GEAR COLLAPSED AND THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI03LA168](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI03LA168), Jun 17, 2003: Cessna A188B (N70403), Hornersville, MO, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain directional control of the airplane during takeoff. A contributing factor was the crosswind.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
