## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ACCORDING TO CFI, HIS STUDENT WAS ON THE CONTROLS AND ENTERED A RIGHT DOWNWIND FOR RUNWAY 18. DURING BASE TO FINAL, IT APPEARED THAT THE AIRPLANE WAS AT A HIGHER ALTITUDE THAN NORMAL, AND THE CFI SUGGESTED A POWER AND PITCH REDUCTION. DURING THE LANDING PHASE, THE AIRPLANE FLOATED "UNUSUALLY LONG." UPON TOUCHDOWN, THE STUDENT APPLIED BRAKING THAT CAUSED THE TIRES TO SKID. THE CFI THEN NOTICED THAT THE ENGINE WAS STILL PRODUCING POWER. N5114J CONTINUED TO SKID AND ONE TIRE BECAME FLAT AS THE CFI ATTEMPTED TO STEER THE AIRPLANE TO THE RIGHT AND ONTO THE RUN-UP AREA ADJACENT TO THE END OF THE RUNWAY. THE AIRPLANE WAS STOPPED SHORTLY AFTER IT LEFT THE HARD SURFACE. THERE WAS NO OTHER DAMAGE. THIS INVESTIGATION, ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ IS CLOSED WITH THIS REPORT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
