## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE AIRCRAFT COLLIDED WITH A STAND OF TREES FOLLOWING A LOSS OF ENGINE POWER AFTER DEPARTURE FROM THE GIBSON STOLPORT AT ROCKVALE, TENNESSEE. VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS PREVAILED AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT. TWO PASSENGERS WERE FATALLY INJURED AND THE PRIVATE PILOT RECEIVED SERIOUS INJURIES AND DIED A FEW DAYS LATER. THE AIRPLANE WAS DESTROYED BY IMPACT AND POST-CRASH FIRE. ACCORDING TO THE BROTHER OF THE PILOT, DURING A GO-AROUND ON THE PILOT'S PRIVATE GRASS AIRSTRIP, THE AIRPLANE EXPERIENCED A GRADUAL LOSS OF ENGINE POWER WHILE COMING BACK AROUND TO LAND. EFFORTS BY THE PILOT TO RESTORE ENGINE POWER FAILED. WITNESSES OBSERVED THE AIRPLANE ASCENDING AND DESCENDING WHILE IN SLOW FLIGHT. THE AIRPLANE COLLIDED WITH A STAND OF TREES AND WAS CONSUMED BY FIRE. EXAMINATION OF THE ACCIDENT SITE FOUND THE AIRPLANE LODGED BETWEEN TWO TREES, WITH BOTH WINGS SEPARATED FROM THE FUSELAGE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
