## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT WAS GETTING FAMILIAR WITH AIRCRAFT. ON TAKEOFF THE ENGINE SEEMED TO SPUTTER, SO THE PILOT THROTTLED BACK AND STALLED. THE A/C STRUCK THE GROUND, BREAKING OFF THE NOSE GEAR AND DAMAGING THE PROPELLER. THE PILOT THEN PUSHED THE THROTTLE FORWARD TO GAIN CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT AND TRIED TO LAND UNDER CONTROL, BUT WHEN HE CAME DOWN NEAR THE EDGE OF THE RUNWAY HE HIT A BERM AND WENT OFF THE RUNWAY INTO SOME SAGEBRUSH AND A DITCH. THE PILOT SURVIVED BUT WAS SERIOUSLY INJURED.
