## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT STATED THE FOLLOWING: THE ENGINE LOST POWER WHILE CRUISING AT APPROXIMATELY 1600 FT. MLS, 1000 FT. AGL, 70 MPH-!AS, APPROXIMATELY 15 MILES FROM THE HOME BASE AIRPORT (62OH). THE ENGINE DID NOT QUIT, MISS, HESITATE, OR RUN ROUGH. IT WAS AS IF AN INSTRUCTOR PULLED THE THROTTLE BACK TO IDLE TO SIMULATE AN EMERGENCY LANDING. I CHECKED THE THROTTLE, TURNED ON THE SECOND FUEL PUMP AND CHECKED THE GAUGES, WHICH WERE INDICATING NORMAL (FUEL WAS AT 1/4 FULL, 6 GALLONS), ALL TO NO AVAIL. I LOOKED FOR A PLACE TO LAND, ADJUSTED AIRSPEED TO 60 MPH, BEST GLIDE, FLARED, AND LANDED ON THE SIDE OF A HILL AND ROLLED OVER. THE ROTOR BLADES AND PROP HIT THE GROUND AND WERE DAMAGED, AS WAS THE LEFT MAIN GEAR AND STRUT. AN FAA INSPECTOR FROM THE (CMH) FSDO EXAMINED THE WRECKAGE ON 07-01-03, AT THE HOME BASE AIRPORT (62OH). CONTINUITY OF THE ENGINE AND FLIGHT CONTROLS WERE VERIFIED. FUEL WAS PRESENT IN THE TANK AND FILTER SYSTEM.

## NTSB investigation

None matched to this report by aircraft and date. Search the NTSB's own records: https://data.ntsb.gov/carol-main-public/basic-search

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
