## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AIRCRAFT WAS INVOLVED IN AGRICULTURAL DISPENSING AT LOW ALTITUDES WHEN THE ENGINE LOST ALL POWER. PILOT ATTEMPTED AN EMERGENCY LANDING IN A FIELD, BUT STRUCK A LARGE AREA OF ROCKS AND SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED THE AIRCRAFT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB NYC03TA138](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/NYC03TA138), Jun 26, 2003: Air Tractor 402A (N4506L), Pearisburg, VA, substantial damage. Probable cause: A compressor turbine blade fracture which resulted in a power loss, and forced landing. Factor were the rocks in the landing area, and the operator's decision to operate the engine beyond the engine…

## Other reports on N4506L (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19900508022019I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19900508022019I), May 8, 1990: Airtrc AT400 (N4506L), Leesburg, VA, Minor damage. Engine failed. Forced landing in field. Problem was fuel supply. No selector and right tank empty.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
